JOB SUMMARY:
Responsible for servicing and maintaining airport HVAC systems for the Charleston Regional Aviation Authority (CRAA). Performs weekly, monthly, quarterly, semi-annual, annual pm on HVAC equipment. This position reports to the Supervisor, HVAC Maintenance.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:      
  • Leads and coordinates daily work activities of assigned crew or co-workers: confers with supervisor to obtain direction regarding work assignments and priorities; organizes tasks in order to complete assigned work; monitors status of work in progress and inspects completed work; confers with co-workers, assists with complex/problem situations, and provides technical expertise; assists with training and instructing co-workers regarding operational procedures and proper use of equipment; assists with supervision of co-workers by reporting employee problems and providing input on disciplinary action and employee performance evaluations.
  • Leads HVAC technicians in performing preventative and emergency maintenance conducts regular inspection of all HVAC systems to include boiler and chill systems, spit system unit, and window units; troubleshoots and performs repairs and upgrades as needed; ensures building remains at the appropriate temperature for weather conditions.
  • Maintains ice machines inspects ice machines per prescribed schedule; troubleshoots and performs repairs as needed, ensuring proper functioning and adherence to state and county health codes; maintains CRAA compressors inspects compressors per prescribed schedule; troubleshoots and performs repairs as needed, ensuring proper functioning.
  • Coordinates material supply fulfillment: research and orders materials for new and ongoing maintenance and repair; collaborates with supply warehouse to ensure timely delivery of correct materials.
  • Plans, schedules, and coordinates HVAC system projects creates project timelines for major system upgrades and building remodels; oversees HVAC system installation for new building projects; ensures projects are completed on time and within current uniform building code standards.
  • Collaborates with other system specialists and outside contractors: escorts and assists outside contractors as necessary to ensure timely and safe completion of electrical system repairs and upgrades; assists other maintenance departments to include Electrical and Mechanical as needed to complete shared projects; collaborates with IT Department to address cooling issues.
  • Processes a variety of documentation associated with department/division operations, within designated timeframes and per established procedures: receives and reviews various documentation to include work orders, memos, and email; reviews, completes, processes, forwards or retains as appropriate; prepares or completes various forms, reports, correspondence, and other documentation, including inspection reports, work orders, and equipment orders; compiles data for further processing or for use in preparation of department reports; and maintains computerized and/or hardcopy records.
  • Operates or uses various equipment, power tools, hand tools, and supplies in order to complete work assignments operates and maintains drills, forklifts, sheet metal tools, lifts, and other power or motorized equipment; operates a personal computer to enter, retrieve, review, or modify data, spreadsheets, Internet, e-mail, or other software; and operates general office or other equipment as necessary to complete essential functions.
  • Responsible for preventative maintenance, including service, troubleshooting, and repairs.
  • Performs other assigned duties.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS TO PERFORM WORK:
  • Associate degree from an accredited institution.
  • Three (3) years’ experience in a related field of work.
  • Or equivalent training, education, and/or experience.

Specific License or Certification Required:
  • Valid South Carolina driver’s license.
